Hidden away in the heart of Preston’s old Industrial Docklands, Ribble Steam Railway Museum has been greeting visitors since 2005.
Expect a warm and friendly welcome from Ribble Steam’s team of committed volunteers. Ribble Steam offers a memorable experience of Lancashire’s world famous Industrial heritage. Visit the museum to discover the history of Preston docks and the story of the first electric trains. Did you know Preston once had a key role in designing and building trains? In fact, these were then exported all over the World.
There is always much to explore in the “hands on” museum. Indeed, there is a fabulous indoor miniature railway for young hearts. You may be curious about the “engineering goings on” in the workshops. Watch treasured industrial engines and locomotives lovingly being restored, behind the scenes. Remember to check out the Ribble Steam Railway Museum shop. Here, you can find that special visit memento, present, specialist publication or popular railway character memorabilia.
